The following changes were made to the 2024 CCYS:

• 23 total items (approximately 18%) were removed from the survey

• One question (7 responses) was added to measure school safety (climate).

• A new youth gambling scale (3 responses) was added to improve the previous youth gambling measure

• Skip logic has been added to online survey administration. A student that responds to an item in a specific manner will not be required to answer additional items that are no longer relevant. For example, a student that answers “No” to life use of marijuana (never used) will not be asked about 30-day marijuana use. This will reduce the time required to complete the survey for many students.

Although all requests could not be fulfilled without diluting the survey content, future changes are inevitable. Surveys are always evolving.
